that place rules
1. No illegal activities allowed. There are security cameras in use surrounding the entire exterior of our building. We will not hesitate to notify the police. Laws are important to the peace and safety of our community.
2. No illegal substances or beverages allowed. This is a teen center and anything that is illegal for a 13 year old to use or possess is included. If it is discovered that a student has broken this rule, the student will have the opportunity of calling a parent or the police before they leave. All outside drinks are discouraged and should not be brought to that place. There are always drinks available for students.
3. Treat others with respect. If you have a negative attitude toward someone, do not let your attitude determine your words or actions toward that person. Drama, abusive language or behavior are not welcome. If a teen is having "issues" with someone else, they should speak with an adult volunteer.
4. Teens are welcome on the porch or inside that place. Almost 5,000 sq feet of our main floor is available for the teens. If a room is marked "do not enter", obey the sign. Teens are not allowed to loiter in the yard, sidewalks, parking areas or alleys. Since most teens ask... "loitering" means to hang out or just stand around.
7. The 7 inch rule. No part of anyone's body should come within 7 inches of a part of anyone else's body. This rule was created by the teens to group a whole list of activities (arm wrestling, hugging, tickling, hitting, cuddling, etc.) into one simple rule. Some think this rule is too restrictive until they see someone else break it and get to yell, "7 inch rule!"
If you are a parent that is considering calling to let us know how unfair these rules are, please find another free, positive, volunteer-run teen center for your students to utilize. If you believe that we have missed some troublesome activity, please contact us as soon as possible.
